Louise Alexandra

Louise has been my client since 2009. As her Art Director I have designed her entire brand, from corporate ID and Logo to Website, Business Cards to Posters at the Design Indaba. Design for Louise has been prolific, her website being one of the most extensive projects.

Here please take note of the Logo's I have designed for each style under the showcase, these are all typographical logos. Louise's site is simple html, css and a touch of jquery.

Earl Jones by Louise Alexandra

Earl Jones is another brand under Louise's style umbrella. This site I built for her back in 2010 to showcase her style items and clothing range.

The site was built using mainly html and css, I have incorporated a bit of Flash for the animated opening sequence.

Baobab Bottled Water Logo

This logo was commissioned by a client in Zimbabwe. Client had sunk a borehole in the shade of a giant Baobab tree, hence the name, and had started bottling water. The tree is drawn from a photograph of the actual tree that shades the borehole and water plant, with a small amount of creative license.

Clickatell 2013 Find Your Perfect Match Campaign

Find Your Perfect Match -  This was a campaign done to showcase Clickatell's different APIs. It needed to appeal to both developers and non-dev (read technology challenged) type layperson.

The concept of the campaign was the product of a team brainstorm. As creative lead I pitched several different styles of illustration to our in house developers before choosing the ever popular Manga style. The illustrations themselves I sourced from Shutterstock.com. I researched each of the 9 APIs Clickatell had to offer and created a personality for each. Then matched those personalities with an appropriate illustrated manga character.

There were two sides of this campaign. We marketed externally, web page, banner ads, mailer, etc. But we also marketed internally, in an attempt to educate our fellow co-workers on the different APIs we have to offer. For the internal marketing I created posters, to be put up around the office and also stickers. One sticker to represent each API. These were massively popular. Please click on the image on the right to see examples of all the elements.

This campaign became one of the most successful campaigns Clickatell had ever run. In the words of one of Clickatells developers:

" I have never seen an advertising campaign that actually had any power to tempt me to have a look. They say sex sells, but this was just very original (in my opinion) and just very intriguing."

All elements of the campaign were then manipulated and designed by myself. I used Adobe Illustrator & Photoshop to draw or modify the elements. On the landpage, I used css & html.

Machete - Agency Site

I designd this site when I worked at Machete 2007 / 09. The site was desigend as a showcase for the agency.

Building this site I used basic html and css. For the animated intro on the front page I used Flash. I am particularly proud of that bit of work and it was hugely fun to make.

Clickatell 2013 - Game of Phones

Clickatell wanted to great a 'fun forum' where our clients and developers could relax and play a few games and engage with the company. Like a bolt of lightning inspiration hit me, and the concept of 'Game of Phones' was concieved.

All elements of the campaign, were drawn and designed by myself. I used Adobe Photoshop to design the logo and the landpage layout. The landpage I coded using simple html and css.

Clickatell 2011 Valentines Campaign

The aim of this campaign was to entice all our existing customers to like our facebook page. The idea was to offer them a chance to win an iPad if they liked our page and sent us their contact details. The competition was not exclusive to current customers. We advertised by putting a note on our balance update emails, in our monthly newsletter and various other avenues.

All elements of the campaign, were drawn and designed by myself. I used Adobe Illustrator to draw the elements. On the landpage, I used php in order to create the form.

Office Space for Rent - 2010

This was a 9m X 9m billboard advertising office space for rent in Century City, that I did whilst working at Machete. The concept was mine and I worked closely with another designer and the photographer to get this up. It was nominated for an Outdoor Award in 2010.

Clickatell 2013 - #ComePlaySMS

The first game developed for Game of Phones, was a tic-tac-toe (or if you are an antipodean, Nougts & Crosses) based game that you could play on Twitter. The game itself was developed for us by a developer at Clickatell, I simply did the design for the landpage.

I used Adobe Photoshop to design the landpage layout, and I coded using simple html and css. The page itself is php, so that we could pull in dynamic content for the Leaderboard. I worked closely with the developer to get this right.
